A " Constant Reader " sends us this cut- ting from the Halifax Daily Guardian, and adds this postcript, " And he deserved to be burnt " : — "Consternation was caused in the cloth- ing works of Messrs. Redman Bros., Scar- bottom Mill, Mytholmroyd, on Wednesday, June 2nd, by a swarm of bees from a local apiary taking refuge there. They entered the overlight, which happened to be open, in their hundreds, and flew amongst the girls, causing them to be much alarmed and to cease work. A number of the male workers tried to exterminate the insects. Various methods were used, and as the last resource, a quantity of sulphur was set on fire, but when work finished for the day there were a quantity still left. Mr. John Gibson had the misfortune to have one of his hands badly burnt by burning sulphur getting on to ;.
