Bournemouth, UK 6 July 2014. Bournemouth council have planted areas to create wildflower meadows of mixed annuals, aimed to enhance the wildlife and attract increased numbers of insects and birds. Included in the mixes this year were approximately 10 million poppy seeds to commemoration the 1st World War. This area has been set aside to create a wildflower meadow of mixed annuals. This is aimed to enhance the wildlife value of this area through the attraction of increased number of insects and birds. The mix of flowers used varies from area to area but we can look forward to seeing flowers like Lacy Phacelia, Cornflowers, Borage when the meadow blooms in the summer. Included in the mixes this year will be approximately 10 million poppy seeds in commemoration of the 1st World War
