The 1903 Wright Flyer on its launching track at Big Kill Devil Hill, North Carolina, on December 14, 1903, before the Wrights' first, unsuccessful flight attempt. Four men from the Kill Devil Hills Lifesaving Station helped move the Flyer from the Wrights' shed to the hill, accompanied by two small boys and a dog.
