The town of Bettendorf now has a population of about 1,500people, and is to a large extent under the control of the Betten-dorf Axle Company, through a town improvement company under franchises obtained from the town coun-cil has put in a system of water works to supply the town froman artesian well and a stand pipe located on a bluff.
