PALMER, Alice Freeman, an American edu-cator; born in Colesville, Broome Count), New York, Feb. 21, 1855. She waseducated at the Universityof Michigan, graduatingin 1S76, and received theappointment of instructorin Latin, Greek and mathe-matics at Geneva Lake,Wisconsin. In1881 she became acting president of that institu-tion, and in 1882, president.
