The flowers of a Xanthorrhoea Australis plant, commonly called a grass tree, on Tasmania's east coast. They are known as balga grass to Australian Aborigines who used the resin flakes, from the base of the stalk, to glue stone flakes to wooden spear shafts or woomeras, and to join and repair various broken implements. Aborigines also lit fires by rubbing pieces of the dry flower stalk together. The plant is only native to Tasmania and can live up to 600 years.
