The funeral of Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington (1769-1852), Anglo-Irish soldier and Tory statesman. One of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain, he served twice as prime minister of the United Kingdom. His funeral took place on 18th November 1852. Before the funeral, the Duke's body lay in state at the Royal Hospital Chelsea.
