Cruise ship ‘Pisces’ docked beside the ever-rising skyscrapers of Kowloon, Hong Kong, China, in December 2006

Kowloon, Hong Kong, China: Star Cruises cruise ship ‘Pisces’ and ever-changing skyline in December 2006. The ship was originally built as MS Kalypso in 1990 in Finland for use by Viking Line. In 1993 she was bought by newly established Star Cruises of Malaysia and in 1994 began operating cruises from Singapore. She later moved to making short day and night cruises from Hong Kong. In 2009, the ship suspended sailings and was laid up. She was reactivated for cruising out of Penang and then in 2011 returned to Hong Kong to offer high seas cruises. In 2022, following the collapse of Star Cruises’ parent company, Genting Hong Kong, ‘Pisces’ was sold for scrap. Kowloon is the most densely populated area of Hong Kong. It lies in northern Hong Kong, directly north of Hong Kong Island.
