Never before in the history of the business were the establishments stocked with a more com- plete line of goods than they are this year. Every available place has been cleared to make room for plants, and some very fine flowering plants are being ofiered for sale, azaleas, poinsettias, primroses and bulbous stock in pans. Begonia Gloire de Lorraine in pans with Asparagus plumosus make a very pretty combination. The way the stores are stocked up with this old favorite shows that it has not lost any of its old time popularity. For the first time well grown Scott ferns are being shown. There is no reason why there should not be enough flowers to meet the heavy demands, as we have been having excel- lent weather for producing stock of all kinds. As usual, the grower is around ask- ing how many thousand carnations you will want at his fancy prices. As earlv as the present time a shrinkage in the supply is noticed owing to the fact that some of the growers are holding their supplies back; how foolish, Christmas is not the only day to do business, there are others. Some of the violet growers who have struck it just right this season are wear- ing the "smile-that-won'; The supply ofgreen goods is heavy owing to the lateness of deep snow, and with the swamps all frozen it has been an easy task to get all the trees that were needed.
