The beehive chapel at Ffald-y-Brenin retreat centre, showing the bedrock left in situ and incorporated into the chapel design.

The Welsh granite of the Preselli Hills could have proved problematic when the beehive chapel was built at Ffald-y-Brenin Retreat Centre and House of Prayer. The incorporation of the bedrock as a feature has made this chapel unique. Ffald-y-Brenin has become well-known in recent years because so many people have encountered God there in amazing ways, sometimes totally unexpectedly.
