Inde-pendence, and was at the battle of the French Lines, nearthat place. Later, he responded to a call for volunteers,under Colonel Stafford, for the defense of Vermont, but thebattle of Bennington was fought before they arrived onthe field. For his Revolutionary service Mr. Parsons re-ceived a pension in 1832. He resided for twenty yearsafter the war at Goshen, Massachusetts, and representedit in the General Court in 1805. He studied theology withhis pastor, the Rev. Mr. Whitman, a graduate of Harvard,and the Rev. Dr. West of Stockbridge, Mass., a graduate. MRS. Entering the ministry, he was settled over theCongregational church in Whitney, Vt., and later, from1814 to 1831, over the united churches of Pittsfield andStockbridge, Vt., and afterwards located at Strongsvilleand Ridge ville, O. He was a contributor to the supportof Oberlin College, and was deeply interested in the anti-slavery cause, to further which he likewise 1823, Mr. Parsons, then of Royalton, was a delegateto the General Convention of Congregational and Presby-terian ministers in Vermont, convened at Ludlow on thesecond Tuesday in September. He died at Ridgeville,Lorain County, O., April 26, 1847, and was buried at Ober-lin, Ohio. Reverend Justin Parsons was four times mar-ried.
