HYPERPARATHYROIDISM, X-RAY
Hyperparathyroidism is a condition due to a dysfunction of one of the parathyroid glands, which causes an overproduction of parathormone, which in turn creates a hypercalcemic state. Hyperparathyroidism is common in women over 50. It is said to be primary when due to a parathyroid adenoma, and secondary when caused by severe kidney failure. Shown here, primary hyperparathyroidism, the x-ray shows transparent areas on the upper half of the left radius and the lower half of the left cubitus.
