Japanese Graves, Vacaville-Almira Cemetery, Vacaville, California


In the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery is a section devoted to the graves of Japanese residents, many nisei (American born) or immigrant farmers or migrant laborers who worked in the local agricultural industry. The local community was active from the 1890s until the 1940s. Following the relocation of Japanese to camps during World War II, the community was not revived.
