Wheal Coates is one of the most visited old engine houses in Cornwall, and a Cornwall and West Devon Heritage Site. The area was a major mining area for tin, copper and other metals from 1700 until the early 20th century particularly in the area around St Agnes. Wheal Coates is on the scenic coastal path of North Cornwall and perched on the cliffs between St Agnes and Chapel Porth cove.
