Tectonic grabens are blocks of terrain that have dropped relative to their surroundings. It is thought that they formed as a result of stresses associated with the formation of mountains nearby. Data for this image were obtained on 29 December 2004 by the High Resolution Stereo Camera (HRSC) on ESA's Mars Express.
