Schultze assumedcharge on trial, but left at the end of three months, andfor the three months ending that year Mr. Davis againsupplied the pulpit. Early in 1881 Rev. James B. Wilson became pastor incharge, under the care of the Domestic Mission Boardof the Reformed Church, in the hope that the enterprisewould soon be strong enough to be separated from thechurch at Brookville. Captain John Underbill, a narrative of whose life as apioneer has already been given at some length in the his-tory of this town, was the ancestor of several of the mostworthy men and women that the town of Oyster Bay hasproduced. Among these it is very proper to make specialmention of Daniel Underhill of Jericho, who is one ofthe most stalwart representatives of this old family andone of the most influential citizens of his native descent from the illustrious ancestor is thus traced:Captain John Underhill married Mary Mosely. Theirson, John Underhill 2nd, married Mary Prior. Abra-ham, their son, married Sarah daughter of ThomasTownsend. One of their sons became the head of afamily, and his son Adonijah Underhill married PhebaWillets, a daughter of Daniel Willets. Adonijah settledat Jeri
