As soon as the lids become less swollenand less tense and the secretion more profuseand purulent, local applications of nitrate of sil-ver, 2 per cent, should be made once a day. Be-fore the use of the silver salt, all discharge mustbe removed and the conjunctival surface wipeddry with absorbent cotton.
