It is of very free growth, among the very easiest to manage, and presents a most distinctive appearance. The very dark green leaves grow long and drooping, three or more inches broad, and with edges slightly scabrous. The stout peduncles are crowned ] with umbels of as many as twelve flowers, which are Lily- shaped, claret-purple outside but soft pink within, and the fila- ments bright red.
