This 3^ear has been Bowdoins ban-ner year in athletics. After winning intennis, foot-ball, and on the track, we havecapped the climax by winning the base-ballpennant, after a most exciting season. Wewon it fairly and with a team of which thecollege and community are justly proud. Itis easy to find the secret of our have had a team that trained faithfully;a team that has obeyed its captain; a teamof gentlemanly ball players, not one ofwhom has received either inducement tocome or aid after getting here. In fact,mercenaries are not wanted. Our men haveplayed together, and to win ten out of four-teen games is a record which will go downin our base-ball history. The town and col-lege have given grand support, and to themthe members of the team are indebted. Weare glad to have the town take our victoryto themselves, and here we take occasion tothank them for the manner in which theyhave aided our association.
