Beforedoing so the pulse was 66, and the respirationswere 16; afterwards they were 80 and 18 respec-tively. He was, at that time, taking walks of one andtwo hours duration without fatigue, and, generally,leading an active life, though debarred from runningmore than a few paces, and from joining in out-doorgames. The areas of dulness before, and at theconclusion of, the treatment were verified by , who also noted a much diminished apeximpulse and complete absence of thrill and epigastricpulsation.
