Chalmers believed that these lands layin Morpeth ward, where there is a place now called Hebron; but it seemsmore probable that the sirname was taken from Hebburn in the Parishof Chillingham, where a family of the name flourished from the thir-teenth century or earlier till late in the eighteenth, when it ended in anheiress.
