Their absence has seemed very long to usand we ardently desired to see them take up once more amongst us theirministry of zeal, piety and edification. Their memory has remainedalive among our people, and our aged folk still relate many edifyingtraits about the former Recollects. By a strange disposition of Providence it is just 25 years ago, this. They dwelt at first in a poor and humbleresidence on Richmond Street, rented to them under easy conditions bythe parish-priest of St. Josephs Church. Two years later they went to their present convent of St. Joseph,on Dorchester Street. In 1900, Quebec, cradle of the Franciscan Orderin Canada, joyfully witnessed the return withinits walls of the legitimate successors of its first missionaries. Then itwas that Reverend Fa-ther Ange-Marie Hiralfounded the beautifulnew convent and churchwhich stand on theHill Saint-Genevieve inthat quarter of the citynow called FRIARY, QUEBEC. MayCauada always keep intact the sacred treasure which the Recollects brought her in1615. May the Tercentenary celebrations of the establishment oftheir Faith be for our people a promise
