Demo-1 SpaceX ISS mission return. Crew Dragon capsule of a SpaceX Dragon 2 spacecraft returning safely to Earth at the end of the Demo-1 mission. Demo-1 was the first orbital test of the Dragon 2 spacecraft and the inaugural flight of NASA's Commercial Crew Program - a space flight system designed for humans and built and operated by a commercial company through a public-private partnership. The unmanned spacecraft was launched onboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, on 2nd March 2019. It made 18 orbits of Earth before successfully docking to the International Space Station (ISS) on 3rd March 2019. Data from Demo-1 will be used to further prepare for Demo-2, the manned flight test that will carry NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the International Space Station later in 2019. Photographed in the Atlantic Ocean about 200 miles off the coast of Florida, USA, on 8th March 2019.
