Coal Bank Pass, Colorado Rt 550 in south west Colorado fall colors at almost 11000 feet elevation. Aspen Golden Colors.
Coal bank Pass on Colorado Rt 550, is one of the most dangerous roads in the US. This pass through the San Juan Mountains is at 10,640 ft elevation. The fall golden aspen colors contrast with the fir evergreens and the blue lake looking northeast from the pass. The clouds shadows across the valley below helps create the depth in the photo, but the fall colors at this altitude are striking.
