Fancy sweet peas, particularly lavender, easily command $ to $ per hundred; fancies are few. Ordi- nary, short-stemmed stock is to be had in astonishing quantities, at about one- third those prices when pushed with vigor. Easter lilies are in moderate supply. Mignonette and snapdragon are fairly good. Pansies can be obtained in lim- ited numbers. The quantity of fancy green consumed is large. The Growing of Ferns. Since the incoming of the Boston fern and its sisters, it has been the custom of the growers of Christmas and Easter plants to use these vtTrieties as catch crops, so to speak, to fill in the periods between seasons. The re- sult was that after Christmas—in many cases, before—these ferns were crowded together in an out-of-the-way corner, where they became potboimd and stunted. The natural result was that critical fern buyers found it well-nigh impossible to secure satisfactory stock during the late winter and early spring. Bobert A.
