In 1894 Borgert gave a description of a Doliolum taken onten occasions by the Plankton Expedition in the N. Atlanticin 450-850 fathoms, five of these captures being between theN. of Scotland and Greenland. He refrained from giving a [ 7 ] 8 name to this form on the grounds that it might possibly be avariety of D. Krohni, with which it agreed in the position ofthe endostyle. The same form was taken off the Bay of Biscay, 150-430fathoms, by Dr. G. H. Fowler, who recorded it as Doliolum, Borgert Q905, p. 911. and admitted the possibility of itsbeing a variety or pathological specimen of D. (1901. p. 2) in Nordisches Plankton again recorded itas Doliolum. sp. In May, 1901. a single specimen of a Doliolum, length 5mm., was taken at 250 fathoms, 30 miles N. by W. of EagleI., Co. Mayo, which in its main points agreed with the formmentioned above. The only difference of importance is in thetestis, which is swollen throughou
