The original statue Abraham Lincoln: The Man, also known as Standing Lincoln in, fittingly, Chicago's Lincoln Park. The work is a larger-than-life bronze statue of the 16th president of the United States completed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens in 1887. It is set upon a pedestal designed by architect Stanford White. Chicago's Eli Bates (1806–1881) provided $40,000 in his will for the statue and pedestal contains his name. It is world famous work of art and a number of replicas exist around the globe including in Parliament Square in London, Mexico City and at Lincoln's Tomb in Springfield, Illinois.
