View SW of Mulfra Quoit Neolithic burial chamber, Cornwall, England, UK: originally a rectangular stone box, the SE chamber stone is missing & the capstone has slipped off its supports. The chamber stands within the remains of a circular mound which may have been retained by a kerb of stones. It is uncertain whether the capstone was covered by the mound or the upper part of the chamber left on display. In 1749 William Borlase dug into a pit inside the chamber containing 'black greasy loam' sealed by two layers of clay. Ding Dong Mine engine house visible on skyline rear R.
