Spring burns, both early and late, produced a "split crop" of seed- lings. In the first year after manipulation only a few seedlings ap- peared, the number depending on the amount of rainfall after the burn. A much larger crop of seedlings emerged the second year. This nearly exhausted the seed supply and few seedlings appeared thereafter. Seed-.
