Illustration of the double star system HR 6819 showing a Be star (centre) with a disc around it, stripping the atmosphere of a B-type star (right). This phenomenon is known as stellar vampirism. Using data from ESO's VLT and VLT interferometer, scientists were able to observe HR 6819, moments after stellar vampirism had occurred.
