A hunting hanger, German, circa 1760. Single-edged blade with a double-edged point and narrow fullers on both sides. There is an etched hunting scene of dogs coursing deer on the base of the blade and scroll decoration on the ricasso. Finely chased and engraved brass hilt with remnants of fire-gilding. The guard plate is in the shape of a lion. Grip is sculpted in the shape of a deer hoof. Leather covered wooden scabbard with brass mountings worked en suite and containing a hunter's cutlery, a knife and a two-tined fork. Blades are pitted in spots. Length 61 cm,
