Mozart’s House, Domgasse 5, Vienna

The ground floor and first floor of Mozarthaus Vienna. The narrow street in front of the house is covered with snow, and an empty wheelbarrow sits near the entrance. The newly restored building is a museum devoted to the life and works of Mozart. On the first floor is the apartment in which Mozart and his family lived from 1784 to 1787. It was the largest, most elegant and most expensive apartment of the many residences he occupied, and the only one in Vienna to have survived. This building, at Domgasse 5, is also known as Figarohaus because it was here that Mozart composed his opera “The Marriage of Figaro.”
