There are others largerand which rise higher, but their intervals arevery irregular and often of rare occurrence, andwere it not for the rightly designated Old Faith-ful, many tourists would go through the Parkwithout seeing a really representative geyser inaction. The region around Old Faithful, known asUpper Geyser Basin, has many attractions asidefrom the geysers themselves. One will lingerlong to admire the crystal river that glidesthrough the valley like molten diamond over itsbed of mossy stones, and to watch the schoolsof mountain trout that dart hither and thitherthrough the bright water quite regardless of 12. Then there are Emerald Pooland Morning-Glory Spring, two of the mostremarkable natural phenomena of the first is a lakelet of the most delicate emeraldgreen, its waters themselves as clear as crystalbut taking their tint from the bottom of thepool, giving a wonderful efifect of purity andtransparency. The water is just below the boil-ing temperature, and apparently of great Morning-Glory Spring, whose marked re-semblance in shape to that flower gives it thename, is easily the most beautiful of the numer-ous hot springs of the Park.
