Napoleon abandons his Army, Russia 1812

Henry Marriot Paget (1857-1936) (Cleaned up to remove bleed through text) Napoleon abandons his retreating army for Paris amid rumours of his death, and a failed coup in France. The army eventually escaped Russia some days later but with losses estimated to be as high as 400,000 men.
