The original church structure was located in an area south of Shallotte neara stream called Jennies Branch, which crossed what is now Hale Swamp Road,and toward the western end of Goose Creek Road. The first buildings were heat-ed by a wood stove, fired and cared for by the members. The first pastor was L. Hewett. In 1933, the church decided to move the building to a more central location inthe community, one mile east of the present location. This was done in 1934. The church grew and additional classrooms were added in 1940. In 1942, thesanctuary, a frame building, was made about 10 feet longer, adding a steeple andfront porch.
