Gnathonemus longibarbis (Hilgendorf) (Text-fig. 2H) The snout is moderately short (especially as compared with other Gnathonemus species; see Taveme [1968]), the mouth small and terminal, and there is a long tubular submental barbel. The posterior intermandihularis is an extensive muscle, originating, as is usual, over the hyohyoideus and from the interopercula.
