WASHINGTON DC, USA - Each spring, thousands of cherry trees around the Tidal Basin in Washington DC burst into bloom, making for a major tourist draw. The large stone monolith at left is known as the Stone of Hope; on its other face is carved the famous statue of Martin Luther King Jr.


WASHINGTON, DC - Opened in 2011, the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial commemorates the Civil Rights leader and the Civil Rights movement. It stands on the banks of the Tidal Basin in Washington DC. Its centerpiece is a large statue of Dr. King that was carved by Lei Yixin. In the background is the Washington Monument.
