A portrait of the founder looks out from the art and architecture faculty of a university in Thailand.
Corrado Feroci was an Italian who lived in Bangkok, Thailand from 1923, when he was invited to teach sculpture, until his death. He changed his name to Silpa Bhirasri and founded Silpakorn University, presently the leading Thai university for the fine arts. He was responsible for many of the city's best known sculptures including the Democracy Monument and Victory Monument, as as a result is known as the father of modern art in Thailand. This portrait is on one of the walls of the Thaphra Palace campus of Silpakorn University, which is located opposite the Grand Palace.
