Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Ryan Clogston replaces a pulse decoder on an F/A-18C Hornet aircraft from Strike Fighter Squadron 146 in the hangar bay of the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) underway in the Pacific Ocean on May 5, 2009. A pulse decoder is a component of the aircraft's automated carrier landing system. The ship and Carrier Air Wing 9 are on a six-month deployment in the western Pacific Ocean.
