A sub-sdult male makes the classic facial gesture known as the Flehment Grimace as he tests the urine from a pride female for signs of oestrus using the vomeronasal organ. Such behaviour will encourage the pride male to drive him out of the pride for years of wandering as a nomad before he is big and strong enough to hold a pride of his own
