Australia Telescope Compact Array. View of a dish antenna from the Australia Telescope Compact Array, located at Culgoora near Narrabri in New South Wales, Australia. Six antennae like this, each 22 metres (72 feet) in diameter, make up the array at the Paul Wild Observatory. The antennae are equipped with six 3 centimetre (cm) and thirteen 20 cm receivers. Five antennae sit on a 3 km long rail track running east-west; a sixth lies 3 km west of the main group. The five are moved to different locations and the six combined can be used as one large radio telescope. The Australia Telescope Compact Array is operated by the Australia Telescope National Facility.
