Historic photographs in the Ascension Island museum showing life on the Green Mountain farm in the late 19th Century. the farm actually started in the 1820's and originally produced fruit and vegetables to supply the ships that called into Ascension when crossing the Atlantic. In the late 1800's cattle, sheep and other livestock were imported for the farm. When the Royal Marines left in 1922 the farm passed to ETC and then Cable and Wireless and continued until the late 1900's.
