District of Columbia National Guard interim commanding general Maj. Gen. Sherrie L. McCandless speaks at the graduation ceremony for cadets of the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy at the Armory, August 27th, 2021. Thirty cadets graduated the program in a ceremony attended by friends, family, and distinguished military personnel. The program is a free alternative education academy for 16- to 18-year olds, supported by the District of Columbia National Guard.
