The plant should be cut back every spring at least one-half the last season's growth, as the flowers are borne on the new wood and are much finer when the plant is treated in this way. HOGG—This fine new white Hydrangea was introduced from Japan and named in honor of Mr. Thomas Hogg, who introduced it. The immense trusses of flowers are at first slightly tinged with green, becoming of the purest white and remaining so a long time. The florets are of good substance and firm texture, making them very desirable for decorative purposes. Ihe clusteis, when well grown, are immense, from twelve to eighteen inches across. It belongs to the Hortensia family, and will undoubtedly prove as hardy as that well known variety. It is endorsed by the leading horticulturists and Horticul- tural Societies of the land as being an acquisition of great value. VARIEGATA—A distinct variety of the H.
