Plant the large bulbs in September covering 5 to 6 inches deep with rich sandy soil. They will begin growing immediately and give you a splendid display of large, Crocus-like, lavender flowers during October. A very interest- ing plant producing its heavy foliage in the spring. Fine for beds, rock garden, and much prized for growing in a saucer without water. If grown in the lawn the grass should not be cut until the foliage has yellowed or otherwise the plants will lack strength to bloom next year. Caesar.
