Plant the large bulbs in September covering 5 to 6 inches deep with rich sandy soil. They will begin growing immediately and give you a splendid display of large, Crocus-like, lavender flowers during October. A very interest- ing plant producing its heavy foliage in the spring. Fine for beds, rock garden, and much prized for growing in a saucer without water. After flowering indoors plant the bulbs in the garden. 35c each; 12 for $; 100 for $ Giant Flowering Spring Crocus A ® These are among the leading flowers of early spring because they are perfectly hardy, exceedingly showy, and long lived. Use them generously in the lawn or in the front of shrubbery. Plant during the fall and cover the tops 3 to 4 inches deep. For mass effect space the bulbs 2 to 3 inches apart. If grown in the lawn the grass should not be cut until the foliage has yellowed or otherwise the plants will lack strength to bloom next year. Caesar.
