Dr, Joe Rodgers checks the heart rate of one of his steeplechase hourses at his Farm in Hamilton, Virginia. Bay Cockburn is the rider up. The Oak Tree in the background was the 2nd largest and oldest in Virginia until a storm knocked it down in the spring of 2004. Cockburn, who is very well known, had a terrible fall "after a moment's inattention" and now uses a power chair.Ê "If I'd had my fingers through the neck strap, I wouldn't have broken my neck", says Cockburn.Ê He's easing back into training horses, and occasionally jumps his chair over small obstacles to amuse the kids.
