Abingdon, England - 21 July 2020; no people in view. Abingdon claims to be the oldest town in England. This is its famous medieval stone bridge. It was begun in 1416 and completed in 1422, using local limestone. It was funded by Abingdon's religious guild, the Fraternity of the Holy Cross. Here we see the bridge at sunrise on a fine, summer morning; it faces roughly E/W, so first light catches the stonework under its main arch, producing some wondrous glow and reflections. And you can see through the arch to a line of houseboats moored by the banks of the river, plus a passings flock of geese.
