SAN DIEGO (May 19, 2017) Rear Adm. Paul D. Pearigen, Commander, Navy Medicine West and chief of the Navy Medical Corps, speaks during the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD) Centennial ceremony. The ceremony was held to celebrate NMCSD’s 100th birthday. The Navy’s first permanent medical facility in San Diego was established in Balboa Park on May 20, 1917.
