A splendid English shield, circa 1900. Made in several parts. Silver-electroplated shield in the style of 1600 with a central depiction of the Paradise Lost after John Milton. On the reverse a plaque bearing a crown above "VR" and the circumscription "Department of Science & Art Elkington". Height cm. Paradise Lost, a poem by the English poet John Milton, was published in 1667.
