Hemispherium building design. Interior of a proposed set of office buildings in Longdenton, England, seen in the virtual reality Hemispherium. This is the world's finest immersive virtual reality facility in 1999. The screen is a six metre wide dome, mounted vertically, giving an authentic 180 degree field of view in both vertical and horizontal planes. Seven projectors provide real-time computer graphics. The pilot (lower left) controls the view using a joystick. As well as building design, this facility can be used for pilot training and virtual tourism. The Hemispherium was opened in December 1998 at Teesside University, England.
